How We Work
It is true that hiring a ‘proper firm’ like ours does cost a bit more but we are here to serve the customers who expect a building contractor the highest of standards and perhaps don’t have the time or experience required to manage a New Build/Conversion/Extension project themselves.
While they are easily identifiable by their striking forest-green uniforms, our team are trained, fully insured and carry the appropriate professional accreditation other sole traders usually cant provide; site teams supported by “the man in the office” mean that we even take care of things like CDM Co-ordination as necessary and liaise with all the professionals involved in a project: from Building Control to Energy Assessors, to Structural Engineers and Architects [as well as specialist suppliers such as our contacts in the reclamation industry!] we have a black book full of the best of the best and the knowledge to deal with other professionals with the respect their years of experience and qualifications deserve.
It is hopefully easy to see from our portfolio and our reviews that we pride ourselves in our tidy, safe sites and we make sure that the finish we leave is of the very highest standards, our aim is to arrive as your contractor and leave as your friends – “love us at the end, not the start” is John’s unofficial motto.
As a proud ‘Trust Mark’ member of the Federation of Master Builders and National Association of Building Contractors, we take our codes of practice very seriously and have invested heavily in our pricing software so that projects are fully costed before breaking ground to ensure no nasty surprises at the end; we also highly recommend the use of ‘Project Architects’ like ARNI as Contract Administrators to give clients even more peace of mind with their expenditure.

Construction Design Management
CDM – ‘Construction Design and Management’ is essentially the Health and Safety procedures required on building projects, since the update of the regulations in 2015 there is a much greater onus on the client themselves, especially where the client is hiring individual trades and managing their project themselves; hiring us as ‘Principle Contractor’ takes this headache away from you as we’re CDM co-ordinator qualified, fully insured and supported by our HBXL ‘Health and Safety Expert’ Licence.

The Management Team
Charles OKell
The man in the office… Charles has a management degree and a love of old properties, an experienced developer with a network of contacts he’s always bringing new ways of working to the table and with a dedication to customer service, Charles makes sure that the projects run smoothly by co-ordinating staff, materials and 3rd parties [engineers, building control etc].
John Trathen
A passionate Builder John first discovered his love of construction as a 14 year old doing work experience block paving; now some years and a few qualifications [Joinery, Tree Surgery, Roofing and CDM Co-ordination to name a few], along with Craig, John runs the sites for the company, with a wealth of knowledge and a can-do attitude John is popular with clients and staff alike.
Craig Williams
A traditional builder having been apprenticed as a brick layer at 17 [don’t ask how long ago that was!] – having served time all over [even in Germany] Craig has embraced the opportunity to manage full conversion projects from start to finish [ask him about the listed Church…] and was the origin of the company’s unofficial motto “we don’t do problems, we do solutions”.
