Our extensive experience with Heritage and Listed Buildings remains very important to us, and we can provide professional advice on projects wherever we can. We are regular volunteers at the Self Build and renovation Trade Shows in the FMB Advice Centre and we always welcome a chat about a project.

How We Work
We are focussed on serving our customers who perhaps don’t have the time or experience required to manage a new build, conversion or investment project themselves but expect their building contractor to deliver the highest of standards. We endeavour to take as much stress out of all aspects of a project as possible, from start to finish, we’re with you every step of the way.
Our team are trained, fully insured and carry the appropriate professional accreditation other sole traders usually can’t provide; site teams are supported by “the man in the office” meaning we liaise with all the professionals involved in a project: from Building Control to Energy Assessors, to Structural Engineers and Architects (as well as specialist suppliers such as our contacts in the reclamation industry!) We even have a black book full of the best of the best and the knowledge to deal with other professionals with the respect their years of experience and qualifications deserve.
It is hopefully easy to see from our portfolio and our reviews that we pride ourselves in our tidy, safe sites and we make sure that the finished project is of the very highest standards. Our aim is to arrive as your contractor and leave as your friends – “love us at the end, not the start” is John’s unofficial motto.
As a proud ‘Trust Mark’ member of the Federation of Master Builders, we take our codes of practice very seriously and so we only tend to work with projects that have been fully costed before breaking ground. The “open book” / “cost plus” contract management route we are finding to be very popular with clients to give even more peace of mind with their expenditure.
With our partner Architects we are always happy to give an opinion when budget setting, value engineering and specifying, we believe this to be a valuable part of the Design Process from the start rather than a potential shock at the post-planning, pre-commencement stage.

Charles OKell
The man in the office… Charles has a management degree and a love of old properties. As an experienced developer with a network of contacts he’s always bringing new ways of working to the table and with a dedication to customer service, Charles makes sure that the projects run smoothly by co-ordinating staff, materials and 3rd parties [engineers, building control etc].
John Trathen
John runs the sites for the company. A passionate builder John first discovered his love of construction as a 14-year-old doing work experience block paving; now some years and a fair few qualifications [Joinery, Tree Surgery, Roofing and CDM Co-ordination to name a few] his wealth of knowledge and can-do attitude makes John popular with clients and staff alike.
